FOSTER DOGS

We have a great back yard with pools and gardens to explore! All day we walk and play! Light grooming (baths, flea combing, brushing) is also part of the day. We are limited in number of  dogs at one time so call as soon as you know when you need us! We do have separated living areas when some animals need to be in a secure area. Our "Doggie Condo" is airconditioned and cozy for all!

For boarding, what time is check-in? What time is check-out?
You may check-in - check- out between 7am to 7pm. 7 days a week!

Average cost per nite $25. - $45.  Depending on needs and number of dogs and duration - per 24 hours.  Add $20 for puppies.

Cats are $20. per 24 hours  and must have a crate/cage for protection.

Food must be provided by the owner - please portion and bag with name tag.
We recommend you bring your crates if you have portables. Any bedding is also usefull. We do have a box of toys that are for all that want to use them.  Please tag your dog with name, phone or address. We will tag your pet when he/she arrives with our Home Sweet Home pet sitter tag.

What is meant by "socialized" boarding?
We offer all pets 24 hour boarding / day care is 8 - 10 hours.   During their stay with us they will spend as much time as possible interacting and in the company of all client dogs. We believe dogs are social pack animals and are the happiest when they have the opportunity to mix with other dogs. We establish our leadership with a group walk at first meeting. Whether your dog enjoys being outside playing ball, lying in the grass, we offer all our clients the chance to do what makes them happy.

Conversely, many traditional kennels keep their clients locked up 23 hours a day, with a bare minimum three 15-minute breaks outside - no mixing and/or playing with other dogs! No pickup on weekends or holidays.   While this works great for prisoners on death row (and aggressive dogs), it is not the best atmosphere for pets who you regard as your "children"!

How do I know my dog will get along with other dogs?
If your dog already enjoys playing at the local dog park, then you can rest assured your dog will enjoy staying with us!   You know your dog better than anyone else.  If your dog is aggressive in nature, we do not recommend leaving your dog at our home. Understand that dogs do bite each other on occasion in order to establish pack order and sometimes defending toys or food. We will supervise your pets as much as possible.

How will my dog be treated?
Most socialized pets are going to be treated like our own, in the house, outside in the back yard as if they always lived here. Sometimes they might need to be supervised in a group or separated in a safe zone. They can stay in the house as long as there is no destruction to the house etc.  Some dogs are used to sleeping with a human. As long as there is space this can happen with your approval. Barking dogs will be contained in the house or "Doggie Condo" if necessary, we do use citrinella collars for excessive barking. Separation in a safe zone or soft crate is usually the result if any aggression is shown. Corrections are a quick assertive NO and a nudge to yeild from the knee! Soft muzzles are used for socializing dogs that are snappy or angry, to keep them safe from facial bites. We limit these to short time periods unless the dog is having a hard time separating aggression from play.  Small dogs are separated from the big dogs unless they show they can all get along. Due to the extreme heat in LA we do not leave any pet outside in the summer/fall at night. Our "Doggie Condo" is air conditioned.

Do I need an appointment for my dog's consultation?
Yes, please call and we will accommodate you!  You will be required to bring proof of annual vaccinations as well as proof of a Bordetella vaccination (kennel cough) within the last six months.  By bringing your dog to consultation before you start your boarding will help give your pet a chance to see, smell, and interact in our home after which they will get to go home with you without an overnight stay. This allows the dog to recognize that we are not a veterinary office and that you will return for them or they can go home with you, alleviating separation anxiety. Consultation also gives us the time to see your pet away from his/her territory and rate the dog's personality.

FLEAS etc.? This is Louisiana, WE HAVE FLEAS; please protect your pets with Advantax or Frontline and also Heart Worm Meds. We cannot guarantee you pet will not get fleas!

How far in advance do I need to make reservations for boarding?
We generally book two to ten days in advance of non-holidays and up to twelve weeks in advance of holidays. Please make reservations as early as possible so as to schedule your consultation in advance.

You as an owner will feel much more comfortable to see that your dog is excited, happy, and sometimes tired from the fun of socialized play and lots of lovin' when you pick her/him up! Photos of their stay will be provided via Email.

Our back yard is for dogs...they can run, dig, get wet and play all day!
